Kathy wanted to create a children's playroom for her two daughters. They wanted a contemporary space that would grow up with their girls and still look fresh when they were teenagers.
The playroom had to include a place to play, a place to watch TV and a place to stash all their gear. It also needed to be study-friendly. Space-saving and flexibility were high on the agenda especially so when friends came to play and stay. The girls wanted their playroom to look cool with lots of bright colours and space for their toys.
To create and retain a fresh, contemporary look, Busting Diva advised keeping the walls a cool white. This provided a neutral background for brightly coloured accessories and avoided a colour-coded overdose. A wall of shelves were designed with a full length worktop incorporated. This not only looked fantastic but housed all the girls' frippery and gave them a place to play and study. Flexible seating was provided in the form of brightly-coloured bean bags, these could be stuffed away when not in use. The addition of a bold, chequerboard rug provided cosy, comfort and eye-candy for two little girls and their friends.
“We showed the playroom you designed to our architect and she was really impressed. We LOVE the beanbags. They are fab and the girls won't get out of them. Luckily the dog has yet to discover them! I am really pleased with the wall unit you designed, it looks great.”
