The whole point of gift giving is to show that you care. If it's obvious that you haven't put any thought into the gift at all, there's no point in giving it. Here's how to find out what they'll love:
- Do listen to the recipient. The next time you are watching TV together, window shopping together, or even when you're just chatting, pay attention. People are always unconsciously talking about stuff they want, and if you're attuned to it your job of finding out what they would like will become second nature.
- Do ask someone close to the recipient. If you don't spend much time with the recipient ask someone that does. Perhaps his/her best friend, a sibling or parent will know what they like or can at least lead you in the right direction.
- Do ask the recipient.
