Anyway, where were we? Ah yes, going green... Finally, the shops have woken up and smelt the coffee (the fairtrade variety, of course!). Many high street stores have come up with ethical ranges and recycled products that are looking very stylish, and cool. We'll show you all the best places to go and tap into those treasures from a bygone era. What better way to get a unique outfit, that you can bet you won't see anyone else wearing?! Recycle that wardrobe full of clothes! You'll be amazed at how cathartic it is cleaning out your wardrobe and letting go of all those unworn purchases, or things that don't fit anymore. One of our stylists will be on hand to advise what would be best suited to whom, and you could replenish your wardrobe in no time! We could even provide a dressmaker for instant alterations or customisation.
And, if no one rushes to snap up your grimy old trainers at the party, then Nike will! Drop your trainers off to their "reuse-a-shoe" program and they will grind them up to create new sports courts!
Meet Shilpa Rajan
Born into a family of tailors, creativity is in Shilpa's genes, so no wonder she's now a Diva dressmaker!
Her roots lie in India and the caste from which her family comes, called "Darji", translates into "Tailor". Shilpa was surrounded by dressmaking from an early age and grew up with a love of anything colourful and creative.
She's passionate about the work of the east and adores exploring the vibrancy and textures of intricate embroideries and bringing this into the pieces she works on. Marrying the cultures of the east and west, with class, is her aim.
She studied at the University of Portsmouth and obtained a BA (hons) in Design for Fashion & Textiles. Part of her education has also come from being exposed to many different cultures, and this has had a profound effect on Shilpa's outlook on life, and her work. Now her main inspirations for creating unique and beautiful pieces come from different destinations and ancient crafts, and her goal is the preservation and survival of the ancient techniques and crafts of artisans, in places where the lack of money leads to their extinction.
